Providence Looks to Technology for Health Education

According to the American Diabetes Association, more than 68,000 people are living with diabetes in Alaska. Much of the state is home to rural communities, so having a diabetes specialist, even in places like Kodiak, isn’t always possible. That’s why some hospitals and care clinics are turning to technology to provide health services, like diabetes education.
Here in Kodiak, Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center recently started offering telehealth diabetes education through a clinic in Oregon. KMXT’s Brianna Gibbs has more on the program, and how it works.
